Epoxy Flooring FAQs

What is Epoxy Flooring?

Epoxy is made up of resins and hardeners which, when mixed together, chemically react to form a plastic-like material. The epoxy is bonded to a base layer, often concrete, to create a surface that’s smooth, easy to clean, level, and allows for many additional decorative options.

Why is Epoxy Used for Decorative Floors?

In addition to being durable and low maintenance, epoxy surfaces can be made in a variety of colors. Plus, you can use additional materials such as colored quartz grains to create incredibly intricate and detailed designs. This makes Epoxy the top choice for custom, decorative flooring like you’d see in corporate offices, car dealership showrooms, and college campuses.

Showrooms need to look clean, expansive, and most importantly, be able to show the floor models in their best light. Using quartz flakes and other decorative materials, we’ll bring your vision for your showroom to life.

Polished Concrete FAQ’s

What is Concrete Polishing?

Concrete polishing involves grinding all the imperfections out of the concrete using abrasive diamond fragments. The result is a floor that’s incredibly durable, easy to maintain, and has an attractive, high-gloss finish. Once the polishing is finished, there’s no need for any waxes or other coatings. As a bonus, Polished concrete is no slicker than normal concrete surfaces, making it a great option for many industrial and commercial purposes.

What Decorative Options Does Polished Concrete Have?

While not as customizable as a floor with an epoxy coating, polished concrete is available in a wide variety of colors. Designs are more limited, but the concrete can be stained or even stenciled to provide a certain aesthetic. We most often use polished concrete in areas that benefit from an elegant, professional, or minimalistic look while providing a safe and easy to clean surface.

Can You Polish an Existing Concrete Surface?

It is sometimes possible to refinish a deteriorated or damaged concrete floor by polishing the surface. Whether it’s possible will depend on numerous factors. In some cases, it may be necessary to resurface the concrete first by adding an additional layer over the existing substrate.

We are able to pour self leveling cement and polish it, however, it needs to be a specific self leveling cement that will harden to a PSI that is able to be polished. Not all self leveling cement can be polished because difference cements harden at a different PSI level, and many of them are not able to be polished.

If you’re wondering whether your existing concrete is eligible for resurfacing or refinishing, feel free to give us a call. We’ll come out for a free on-site assessment.
